Hello! Thank-you for your visit and a warm welcome to recent new followers.
Today's card is for lovely Sara who is celebrating her 9th birthday!
Papers: Melissa Frances '5th Avenue' collection
Stencilling: On background paper using a Dutch Doobadoo stencil and Faber Castell Texture Luxe in 'Pearl'
Dies / Punch: Edging strips are cut with a Martha Stewart 'Eyelet Lace' Edge punch. To accentuate a sense of 'frilliness' I've painted the punched edges with white ecoline and dried paint with heat gun so as to slightly bubble it. The flourishes at corners of frame are diecut using a Joy Crafts die - they seem, (to me anyway), to echo the ballerinas' arms
Frame: The frame is MDF which I painted a couple of times with gesso and then coated with Stampendous Frantage in 'Shabby Pink' and 'Shabby White' along with some pink glass glitter by Melissa Frances
Tutu: Made 'tutu' with Melissa Frances 'frou frou' tulle
Other Embellishments: I've made resin corners at left from paper clay in a silicone mould. Metal corners to right are painted white and topped with little venise lace bows. Flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima and the stamens are from stash. The metal 'Happy Birthday' is by Making Memories. Pearls around edges are by Woodware and The Hobby House. A bow and Prima bauble are included too. Finally, dabbed Prima / Finnabair Art Sugar in 'light pink' onto flowers and corners for a touch more sparkle
Thanks so very much for stopping by,
Nicola x

What a beautiful, and adorable card for Sara, - so romantic and sweet with all the elements you have used ,to create the special feeling of the ballet world, with the tulle tutu, pearles, flowers, and the magic every little ( and big ) girl, feels when watching a ballet.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Nicola, your card is quite simply stunning! Sara is going to feel so grown up when she receives this beauty. The ballerina image is beautiful and I love how you created the 'tutu' around the frame, it is just perfect! The handmade corners and the pearls add a real opulence to the card.... I love this so much! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteHello Nicola, I'm back after a month in wonderful Donegal.
ReplyDeleteThis card is very beautifully adorned. I love your idea of placing the tutu round the frame as if it was a ballerina body. The whole is so very graceful, the paper arabesques echoing the ballerines' arms, the delicacy of the colours. Very mild and airy. The small bead on each costume adds a further sparkling touch. The whole card is very well balanced like a Swan Lake choregraphy. Amitiés. Véronique.
Thank-you for your lovely compliments Véronique. I hope that you had brilliant time in Donegal. In case any readers would like to see your own exquisite creations I'm adding link here...

This is such a gorgeous piece! I love all of the details and texture you added with the pearls and that lace-reminiscent edging is incredible! This is elegance at its best and I'm sure Sara will absolutely love it! It's a great mix of sophistication and youthful whimsy. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteYour card is breaktaking!! It reminded me of my daughter when she was a ballerina dancing in the Nutcracker and it brought back so many wonderful memories for me. She's 22 now and hard to believe time goes by so fast. An element that captured me was how you created the frame around the ballerinas to look like a tutu. How clever!! The entire design is so elegant and gorgeous and Sara is going to be thrilled when she receives it. What a treasure!!
