Hello from a cold, sleety Dublin with snow forecast for today.
Lots of challenges this week with a white theme which is so appropriate for snowy region. Hope you are snuggly warm wherever you are.
The background layer is Lace Paper - tissue weight paper is pulsated with high speed water jets through a silk screen to create the 'lace pattern'. I've then die cut 4 borders from velvet paper (by SEI) so that edges are lovely and soft. (Magnolia die "Old Swedish Lace"). The doily is cut from Bazzill CS using Cheery Lynn's Sophia's Heart die. I painted the primitive heart die cut with Paper Artsy's Fresco Finish in Snowflake. Then stamped and embossed swirls using Crafty Individuals stamp (CI-182) and embossed with Stampendous EP (Winter Wonderland). The top chip-board die cut was first painted in Paper Artsy's Nougat paint. I then applied their crackle glaze paint. When dry, painted again using Snowflake paint and the lovely cracks appeared. The top embellishment is a beautiful french enamel by 7Gypsies. I tried 'crackling' the enamel but it didn't work out so I've just dabbed it with Adirondack paint dabber in Snowcap to 'remove the bare look'. I received the pretty corrugated butterflies as a freebie with an order from The Funkie Junkie Boutique - thanks Linda! I've painted them with Paper Artsy's Snowflake paint and then dabbed the ridges with Paper Artsy's Metallic Glaze which gives a lovely pearly shimmer. I've completed by adding roses, pearls, Cheery Lynn flourish die cuts and lace.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Stay warm and have a lovely weekend.
Nicola x

What a beautiful card, Nicola! I love white on white, and you've added so many beautiful details! I did a lot of white on white when I started crafting - I wasn't even aware that it had its own term - but I haven't quite worked it out since then... Hope I'll get my white on white Mojo back...

ReplyDeleteI did laugh at your comment hun, I didn't think of that but now I'm thinking about it if I could marry one of mine off I'd have a bigger craft room, then again knowing my luck Jode would bring a husband home to live with us as she's always saying she's never leaving home lol.
Have a lovely weekend hun and keep warm, it's bitter here but the puppy is loving the snow and I've enjoyed playing in it with him :)

Great collection of white elements! That lace trim is really pretty. This would be a nice bridal card too!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Nicola, you've created such beautiful texture and so much interest without any colour - clever stuff. I often think white on while looks cold and stark but this has a lovely warm vintage feel.

I's the third time I admire your card, the two first times I had no time (or was not allowed from work !) to leave a message so this is the GOOD TIME at the end !!! "Ouf"... in french ! Just to say that your "french" card is really beautiful !... All white is not an easy challenge yet, that's the reason I never tried it before ! but I 'll have to do it soon, so your project cold be a perfect entry point for inspiration ! Thank you dear Nicola.. Hope the weather is better now in Dublin ? Coco xx
